A series of collage illustrations using photographs from my archive to create a set of compositions celebrating this often overlooked part of Los Angeles history.

I began documenting local Green Book locations in 2017, inspired by a freelance photo assignment I received from Curbed Los Angeles. In the years since, I continued to photograph these sites as some fell into disrepair, some thrived, and others were demolished completely. With South Los Angeles recently being recognized as a Black Cultural District, hopefully the significance of these locations will be recognized and preserved.

Two of the locations that I photographed are no longer standing. Allum's Drug Store was gone before I began documenting the structures but Jack's Basket Room has burned down in the years since, emphasizing how easy it is for these sites to be lost.
