Saturday Nights
A special gathering in Los Angeles + Recent Photographs/Artwork

Welcome to the latest PROCSSS newsletter! This entry will go into some detail about a wonderful creative gathering I attended this past Saturday in Leimert Park and I'll share some thoughts about my current photography work. As always, thanks for reading and please share if so inclined! Enough of this intro, let's dive in!

Umber Talk Show Los Angeles
Last Saturday was really dope.
I was invited to attend a salon style gathering of artists, photographers, and other creatives in Leimert Park, hosted by some friends and Umber magazine. The goal was to network, exchange ideas, and get a preview of the soon to be released Umber "Collage" issue, which I have some work in. It was one of those rare occasions for me where I felt immediately at home, in no small part due to the amazing physical space the event took place in and the positive energy of everyone who came through.
These types of events are few and far between for me. Aside from my natural inclination to work solo (I consider myself somewhat of a "loner creative"), the demands of having a full time job, taking care of my family, and just staying sane make connecting with other creatives difficult.
It's an aspect of my personality that I'm working on because when I actually do get a chance to build with others the experience is so rewarding. It can be easy for me to drift into cynicism sometimes when it comes to the creative scene in L.A. so it's important for me to continue putting myself and my work out there.
An unexpected highlight was getting the chance to discuss my creative process during the Umber Collage issue preview. Although I've been working with my style of collage illustrations for a few years now, I rarely get a chance to share what it takes to create them with a live audience. Everyone who attended was incredibly supportive and I appreciated the opportunity to talk about my work with them.
I am one of quite a few amazing contributors to the Umber Collage issue, you can find more information about the project, including a link to preorder here:
